SIRVA (BGRS)

OCT 21: BGRS (Now Sirva) tasked me with maintaining and iterating on a design kit for the company.

BGRS (now Sirva) needed a UI kit to bring them into the modern era. With much of the previous digital work based on print standard, my focus was to develop a UI kit based on Material UI that was accessible and easy to maintain for all designers and developers
in the org. This design kit was then to be used on the product integral benefits portal.

With much of the previous digital work based on print standard, my focus was to develop a UI kit based on Material UI that was accessible and easy to maintain for all designers and developers in the org. This design kit was then to be used on the product integral benefits portal.

The Challenge

Stakeholders were consulted and the existing design system was catalogued and adapted to move away from print standards to a digital first approach. This meant converting colours and type scales to better reflect the digital product we were designing for.

Atoms, molecules, and organisms were meticulously reverse engineered from the existing design work to fit an atomic framework.

The Process

The Process

After the kit was established our first test was to build arguably the most critical section of the whole product, the flex benefits tool.

The redesign was initiated to make the benefits section of the product more aesthetically pleasing and cohesive. The redesign focused primarily on categorizing the existing benefits into more broadly defined categories to enhance the user experience.

Research by NN group on The Aesthetic-Usability Effect:

Users are more tolerant of minor usability issues when they find an interface visually appealing. This aesthetic-usability effect can mask UI problems during usability testing.
